Mr. Rubens has received CoStar Group’s “Power Broker” Award for Retail Leasing and the “Rising Stars” Award from Real Estate Weekly. He was also a finalist for the REBNY Deal of the Year award. Mr. Rubens is a member of the Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY) and the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).

Professional Experience

Coming from a family of architects and designers, Darrell Rubens has had a passion for real estate development and leasing since his early adult years.  He joined Winick Realty in 1996 after graduating from Pace University with a degree in Business Management and Marketing. Mr. Rubens has grown with the company, playing a key role not only as a prominent broker but also as a productive manager. He was recently named a partner with the company and serves as Executive Vice President.

Mr. Rubens recalls that his first transaction as an epiphany of sorts: “When I closed the deal on East 86th Street with the estate of Sol Goldman, I felt so excited and realized that I had chosen the perfect career path for myself.”

Having completed more than $1 billion worth of retail transactions, Mr. Rubens has become an established part of the New York real estate scene representing landlords and tenants for over 20 years. He has exclusively represented many of Manhattan’s most prominent property owners and institutional landlords, offering creative marketing skills and adding value to their assets. Mr. Rubens has handled leasing on behalf of Meringoff Properties, Madison Capital, ABS and Partners, Silverstein Properties, SL Green, The Carlyle Group, Angelo, Gordon & Co. and others.

Mr. Rubens successfully leased Snapchat’s first retail location in the world, representing both landlord Green Oak and tenant Snap Inc. for a flagship Spectacles store at 5 East 59th Street. He has also worked with such major retailers as Warby Parker, Lowes Home Improvement, Apple, Aveda, My Suit, Crunch Fitness, Chase Bank, Bank of America, CVS, Walgreens, Chipotle, United States Postal Service, and Sephora, among others.

Mr. Rubens transformed the Wall Street retail corridor with the successful leasing of Canali, Thomas Pink, Haru and TJ Maxx, which was a finalist for the REBNY Deal of the Year award. He has been featured in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, the NY Post, Crain’s, Real Estate Weekly and in other publications as an “instrumental downtown broker.”
